How I landed my dream job with a Dragon

A Pakistani gentleman, called James Caan, from the Dragons Den TV show, with his hand to beard.

James Caan

One of the most powerful memories of my life dates back to an evening in the Summer of 2010, when I was watching my hero at the time, James Caan on Dragons’ Den. I had almost reached breaking point. I was going through a divorce,  unhappy in my job, and earning considerably less than my financial worth.

During the show, I suddenly experienced a rare and inexplicable moment when something inside me just shifted and I decided that I was going to find a way to work with James.

Within 4 weeks of making that decision, I met someone connected to him.

Within 2 weeks of meeting that connection, I was introduced to his HR Director.

Within 1 day of meeting his HR Director, I was introduced to James.

Within 5 days of meeting James, I was offered my dream job.

Whilst I thought my previous career of 16 years in investment management was successful, I now realise that I had barely scratched the surface of what I was truly capable of - and genuinely worth. That experience taught me a very powerful lesson:

When you can define exactly what you want, recognise your value, and communicate with clarity,  confidence and class, anything is possible.

That lesson became one of the inspirations behind the creation of the Kaleidoscope Quest Programme.

How can I help you?

Do any of the circumstances below describe where you find yourself today?

  1. An employee who feels undervalued or unfulfilled in your current role.
  2. Someone considering how to reinvent yourself in the face of AI.
  3. A disillusioned graduate looking to find your path.
  4. The parent of an adult with a disability who is struggling to find their path.
  5. Someone currently out of work and struggling to find your right role.
  6. Someone contemplating starting (or restructuring) your own business.

If they do, this is how we can help you...

  1. Recognise and reaffirm your core skillset and hidden capabilities.
  2. Establish your real financial value and true worth.
  3. Define your dream job and the companies you would like to work with.
  4. Create  your own story, build your 'Pitch Book', and design your approach
  5. Learn to present yourself with confidence, clarity and class in meetings, interviews and career conversations.
  6. Design a clear 6-month roadmap to secure your dream job.

Hello, my name is Hardeep...

…and I am the creator of a CPD-certified 3-month online programme designed to help you to recognise your true financial value and then find your dream job.

Why me?

I am someone who has lived a life less ordinary. I have:

  • Built a colourful career spanning more than 32 years in financial services.
  • Secured my dream job working with Dragons’ Den star, James Caan.
  • Worked as a Growth Expert at Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses.
  • Experienced the extraordinary journey of parenting a severely disabled child, Eshan, and know what it feels like to be judged.
  • Narrowly escaped the Boxing Day Tsunami in 2004.
  • Started my own business, www.Kaleidoscope.Group.
  • Listened to more than 4,000 business investment pitches.
  • Met over 2,100 individuals, across 65 disabilities, from 29 countries.

And through all of those experiences, my greatest learning has been simple:

If you can define exactly what you want, then anything is possible.

Welcome to Kaleidoscope Quest.

Experience & Education

“I think today is the start of the rest of my life. I’ve never been in such an inviting space..."

The Programme

In order to succeed, many of us have heard the phrase: “It’s not about what you know, it’s who you know.” Whilst that is certainly true, in my experience, it is only half of the equation. The other half is knowing how to intelligently articulate what you want, at the right moment in time.

Our programme will help you to do that.  Together we will arrange the pieces to your puzzle and define your ideal job, understand your true earning potential and identify the companies you would most like to work for.

We will work with you to create a personalised six-month roadmap that will help to guide you on the actions that you need to take, to secure your dream role.

  • The first six weeks of the programme are delivered online through weekly two-hour sessions with a maximum of ten participants. Our experience has shown that a small-group format also creates valuable opportunities to learn from one another.

  • The second six weeks includes small group mentoring sessions to help you put your six-month roadmap into action.

By the end you will have a clear picture of where you want to go, what you have to offer and, perhaps most importantly, what you are truly worth.

Part 2. The next six weeks

Mentoring support

This is where the programme truly sets itself apart and comes into its own. Given the unconventional career journey I have taken over the last three decades, my advice is rarely to simply apply for another job.

Depending on who you target as your ideal employers, we will help you to devise thoughtful, novel and bespoke approaches for them.

We will work closely with you to present you as a compelling proposition, creating a storyboard and a Pitch Book that demonstrates why you could be the right hire.

Finally, we will help you develop the mindset needed to safeguard your mental health, remain resilient, and stay focused and realistic throughout your journey

"...it has made me realise that having a disability is an advantage, not a disadvantage..."

Case Study 1 : Bradley

IT Helpdesk

Bradley attended our programme and during one of the sessions, he revealed a genuine interest in helping individuals that were challenged with IT. Despite not having much experience, he was introduced to the Head of IT at Yusen Logistics, who offered him a job on their Helpdesk.

A little over a year later he received the following review:

"Bradley has been instrumental in leading the way. His passion for making the environment safe and organised is exemplary. Thank you for your continuous work - may your actions encourage others to follow in your footsteps."

"..His ability to see potential where others might not, has helped me enormously to shape me..."

Case study 2 : Chantal

Chantal had spent almost 28 years searching for employment that would pay her what she was worth. Much of the time she was offered roles that were unpaid because people around her were seeing her as a wheelchair user so were making assumptions about her capabilities.

Through our programme she found her voice, built her confidence and managed to secure an interview with her dream employer P&O Cruises onboard one of their latest cruise ships. Today, Chantal is a valued member of our team!

Meet Eshan, my inspiration

An image of the founder Hardeep Rai, lovingly looking into the eyes of his son Eshan Rai.

Many of us go through life, on autopilot and just accept where we are and what we have. We then complain we are unhappy despite us having consciously chosen the pathway we are on in the first place.

I was one of those people until the 18th November 2006, when my son Eshan was born with a severe disability. My destiny changed within a matter of minutes, and that was when I realised that time and money wait for no-one.

So, I finally set up my own business:  www.Kaleidoscope.Group a company that supports people with disabilities to find their dream jobs or start their own businesses. Over 12 years, I personally met over 2,100+ individuals from 29 countries, spanning 65+ disabilities and discovered so many were remarkably talented and very capable.

However, they were not getting the opportunities they deserved because society was inadvertently making assumptions about what they could achieve. This meant that many of them lost the essence of who they were or what they wanted, in order to assimilate.

This programme was originally created with them in mind but has since evolved into supporting anyone who wants to rediscover their value, rebuild their confidence and redefine their future.

Your investment - £1,000

  3. Define your dream job and the companies you would like to work with.
